About the Talent Q cognitive ability tests
Talent Q mostly uses the Elements test to assess candidates as part of selection process. You will have to answer several questions in four broad categories:
- Matrices – abstract.
- Tables and graphs – numerical.
- Reading comprehension – verbal.
- Error checking.
Elements logical / matrices
Elements Logical from Talent Q is the matrix component, also known as Raven’s Progressive Matrices. Matrices are a combination between static and moving figures. That way you will be challenged to the maximum of your abstract reasoning skills. A matrix is a three by three grid, containing nine squares in total. You have to fill in one of the nine squares. Because matrices are so complex, it is very wise to prepare well for this.
Elements numerical / tables and graphs
You must answer business questions based on visual and numerical information. To be able to answer the questions, you must additionally perform some basic calculations. Consider calculating an increased or decreased profit percentage. You may also be asked to get started with index numbers, charts and exchange rates. The questions for this type of assessment are not a daily activity for many people. That is why it is important to refresh and improve this knowledge.
Elements verbal / reading comprehension
You will see a text including a specific question. This can be, for example, which statement is correct based on the text. You must then select this statement based on information in the text. So you can only base the answers on the information that is shown. This does not include the knowledge that you have from your general development. In general, it requires some practice before you get used to the pitfalls of verbal reasoning.
Preparing for Talent Q cognitive ability tests
Prepare for the test
On the Talent Q site you will find some good tips, so always read them carefully. In addition, you can take a practice test for each component. It is advisable to go through all these questions carefully and to practice specifically for the assessment. In any case, make sure that your math skills are up to scratch: addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. In addition, practice specifically for each component.
Strategy for the Cubiks test
The test has a maximum time per question. You will therefore have the opportunity to ask every question. When the available time of the question is almost over, a timer will be visible. Make sure you always fill in an answer before this timer is over. Because of its adaptive nature, it is more important that your question is good than that you make all the questions very quickly. Adaptive means that the test always gives harder or easier questions based on your answers.
With Talent Q you get 16 minutes per topic. So you spend a total of around 45 minutes making the questions. Add a few minutes to read the introduction sums and explanation.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Hellotest practice material developed?
We have been active as assessment trainers since 2012. In the first instance you could only come to us for personal training:
- one on one training,
- group training,
- workshops and training at universities and career fairs.
In 2015 we decided to put our developed training material online so that our candidates could practice after training.
Thanks to our many years of experience as an assessment trainer, we know exactly which variations exist for a component. We have developed questions about these components for each variation.
We have combined that knowledge with the parts that certain agencies require. We have been able to determine which variations are used by which agency. Then you will find the right variations in your training package.

You can take our lessons and practice tests as often as you want during your subscription. If you want to retake a lesson or practice test, you can reset the lesson or quiz yourself via a button.

Who are we
Our aim is to help you get your dream job. Aptitude tests are used by most employers nowadays and are a major hurdle to candidates. As many as 50% of the candidates do not pass their aptitude test. We find this unfair.
By preparing for your aptitude test you can easily pass the test. You are not cheating, you are getting prepared. If you have never solved number sequences or never even seen a figure sequence you will not get a high score on your test. You may even fail. By practicing, you will be familiar with such types of questions. Now, you can actually take the test.
