Saville aptitude test

Since 2004, the Saville assessment agency has been developing new solutions in the field of assessments and aptitude tests. Saville Assessment is now part of Willis Towers Watson and active in more than 80 countries. The best known tests from Saville are the Swift Aptitude tests.

  1. Swift Analysis Aptitude
  2. Swift Exectuvive Aptitude

The main difference between the two assessments is the type of questions you have to answer. Both tests assess your numerical and verbal capabilities. Abstract reasoning is assessed with diagrammatic reasoning in the Swift Analysis Aptitude. The Swift Executive Aptitude uses figure sequences to assess your abstract reasoning.

About the Saville Assessment aptitude tests

Saville Assessment uses the assessment centre method to assess candidates for selecting talent.

Saville Assessment uses two different tests: Swift Analysis Aptitude and the Swift Executive Aptitude. In some cases, it may be possible you will only have to take one or more topics from these tests. This will be stated clearly in your invitation. The tests consist of:

  • Verbal analysis.
  • Numerical analysis.
  • Diagrammatical analysis.
  • Abstract analysis.

Abstract reasoning

Figure sequences

This measures how good you are at completing logical reasoning. The exercises consist of four figures that logically follow each other. On this basis you must determine what the fifth figure will be. You will see several figures at the same time, each with their own logical connections. If you solve the elements separately, you can always exclude incorrect answers until you choose one correct answer.

Diagrammatical reasoning

Diagrams / flow charts

Diagrammatical analysis is a complex test. It measures your ability to draw the right conclusions based on complex visual information. Diagrammatic analysis consists of an input, change and an output. The change is always based on a fixed principle. The variation in the questions consists of filling in the input, the change or the output. Due to the great diversity of questions, this is a complex test.

Numerical reasoning

Tables and graphs

In many professions, numerical reasoning is of great importance. That is why this is required in almost all assessments. The numerical analysis test of Saville Assessment measures your ability to draw conclusions from complex numerical information. You have to answer the right business questions based on graphs and tables. For example about sales figures or the relationship between production and sales. This part is requested for both the Swift Executive Aptitude and the Swift Analysis Aptitude.

Reading comprehension

Verbal reasoning

Reading comprehension

Verbal reasoning is an important part of many assessments. The verbal analysis test of Saville Assessment is a good example of this. The test consists of several texts with multiple choice questions. Multiple variations are possible here. In some cases you have to assess a statement for accuracy. It is also possible that the statement cannot be assessed. In other cases you have to answer a specific question about the text. For example, what the most important conclusion of the text is. Both the Swift Analysis Aptitude and the Swift Executive Aptitude use this component.

Preparing for Saville aptitude tests

Prepare for the test

Saville Assessment also offers an introduction to the components of the Swift Analysis and Executive tests. It is also possible to take a mini-assessment with only the parts of your specific assessment. Our experience shows that these are relatively easy questions compared to the real assessment. However, it is a good way to become familiar with the module in which you will soon have to take your aptitude test. Furthermore, the components are explained very briefly. Good preparation consists of fully understanding the type of questions you are about to receive. This is covered extensively in the Hellotest exercise package.

Strategy for the Cubiks test

A fixed time is given per component for the aptitude tests of the Saville assessment. The number of questions and the amount of time differs between the Swift Analysis and Executive. A fixed time has both advantages and disadvantages. It is possible to organize the time per question yourself. Make sure that you do not dwell on a difficult question too long and that you do not get to the questions that are easy. It is possible to enter an answer and if you have the time, go back to the questions. After a good preparation you are able to estimate very well how long you spend on a question on average and whether you want to complete it later.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Hellotest practice material developed?

We have been active as assessment trainers since 2012. In the first instance you could only come to us for personal training:

  • one on one training,
  • group training,
  • workshops and training at universities and career fairs.

In 2015 we decided to put our developed training material online so that our candidates could practice after training.
Thanks to our many years of experience as an assessment trainer, we know exactly which variations exist for a component. We have developed questions about these components for each variation.
We have combined that knowledge with the parts that certain agencies require. We have been able to determine which variations are used by which agency. Then you will find the right variations in your training package.

Who are we

Our aim is to help you get your dream job. Aptitude tests are used by most employers nowadays and are a major hurdle to candidates. As many as 50% of the candidates do not pass their aptitude test. We find this unfair.

By preparing for your aptitude test you can easily pass the test. You are not cheating, you are getting prepared. If you have never solved number sequences or never even seen a figure sequence you will not get a high score on your test. You may even fail. By practicing, you will be familiar with such types of questions. Now, you can actually take the test.
