## What is spatial ability?

Spattial ability, also exclusion, is part of abstract reasoning. In other logical tests you often have to find an answer that meets the rules of the figures given. With exclusion you must state exactly which figure does not fit in the list.

In principle, exclusion could be applied to every component. In practice you only come across this as a figurative test. The advantage of this is that this component is culture-free. This means that every candidate must be able to take the test regardless of his background..

## Types of spatial ability relationships:

With exclusion, four of the five figures follow the rule. A number of simple connections are:

• Number: for example, the number of corners, planes, lines, figures.
• Shape: is the figure symmetrical, asymmetrical, does it occur in geometry?
• Size: how large are the figures, how many figures of what size do you find?
• Location: how are the figures positioned in relation to each other, are they always in a plane or are they always apart?
• Filling: what kind of filling do the figures have, is it always the same or always different?
• Lines: what lines are used, for example, dotted lines or solid lines?
• orners: what kind of corners are used, for example pointed or blunt corners?

## How to solve spatial ability questions:

1. Search for the relationship. There can of course also be several connections.
2. Look at the answer options and select the options with the correct connection.
3. If the answer does not seem to be in between, remove any answers that are not in any way related.

## Spatial ability

Exclusion with figures is part of abstract reasoning. It is a check how well you are able to process visual information and draw the right conclusions.

People are naturally very good at recognizing patterns. Candidates rarely experience exclusion as difficult. The complexity of this component often lies in the large number of questions that must be asked in a short time.

In addition, selection procedures often require the score to be higher than the norm group. With more practice, the chance of beating the norm group is greater.
